Scholarships

The Northeastern Chemical Association’s endowment fund supports engineering and science scholarships at seven universities in the Northeastern United States and Canada. In addition, NECA supports a high school mentorship program at Liberty Science Center in New Jersey.

College of New Jersey

Endowment Amount: $136,620

Annual Grant/Scholarship: $7,067

Awarded to: Students studying Chemistry/Science education enrolled in teaching program, selected by the university on behalf of NECA.

2023-24 Recipient: Derek Serino, senior chemistry student.

Penn State

Endowment Amount: $185,957

Annual Grant/Scholarship: $6,562

Awarded to: five students chosen to receive assistance for an overseas study program.
 

University of Delaware

Endowment Amount: $206,421

Annual Grant/Scholarship: $3,500

Awarded to: Undergraduate science and chemical engineering majors.

2023-24 Recipients: $2,500 to Jake George, junior  chemical engineering student and $1,000 to Grace Azvedo, sophomore chemical engineering student.

Drexel University

Endowment Amount: $122,913

Annual Scholarship: $5,800

Awarded to: Undergraduate chemical engineering majors, selected by the university on behalf of NECA.

NYU Tandon School of Engineering (Polytechnic)

Endowment Amount: $136,877

Annual Grant/Scholarship: $6,701

2023-24 Recipient:
Thomas Kashino, sophomore studying Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering.  

University of Toledo

Endowment Amount: $141,433

Annual Grant/Scholarship: $4,000

Awarded to: Undergraduate chemists or chemical engineers, selected by NECA.

2023-24 Recipients: Joseph Do and Asa Killam

Liberty Science Center

Annual Grant: $5,000

Helps fund LSC’s Partners in Science summer mentor program, pairing high school juniors and seniors with science industry professionals.

Queens University

Annual Grant/Scholarship: $2,500

Awarded to: Junior or senior chemistry/engineering chemistry major, selected by the university on behalf of NECA.
